Vic Meirelles has lost the material collected in over 30 years dedicated to the production of images for events
Interior designer and architect Vic Meirelles was finalizing the atmosphere for the birthday party of socialite and businesswoman Carola Diniz, in a villa in Jardim Europa, when he was informed of the fire in his warehouse, in Vila Leopoldina, west of San Paul.
Stunned, he rushed to the scene. He found the commercial building in Aroaba Street on fire. 14 fire engines were mobilized to control the situation.
Television programs such as “Brasil Urgente” (Band) and “Edição das 18h” (GloboNews) appeared live from the site with images captured from helicopters.
Known for decorating events for celebrities and millionaires, such as weddings and dinners, Vic Meirelles lost his collection of objects, such as vases, flower arrangements and tableware (including silver), as well as antique furniture. Most of the pieces were for sale.
Among his clients are former player Ronaldo Nazário, actress Marina Ruy Barbosa, businesswoman Bia Aydar and fashion designer Reinaldo Lourenço. High society friends are thinking of starting a “fundraiser” to help Vic Meirelles rebuild his studio in another space.
