Presenter Patricia Lage, Patsy, known in Argentina as “Xuxa Nacional”, died on Sunday (15), in Buenos Aires, due to complications from a stroke. She was 67 and leaves behind a daughter, Vicky.

In 1988, he achieved stardom in his country by producing and presenting ‘El Clan de Patsy,’ a copy of ‘Xou da Xuxa,’ complete with spaceship, paquitas and other elements identical to the Brazilian program.

Former Miss and successful model, Patrícia saw the Globo show for the first time during a rest trip to the south. Deciding to do the same in Argentina, she contacted director Marlene Mattos.

After long conversations, he got permission to play ‘Xou da Xuxa’ on the ATC channel. The success was instant. In a short time, two discs and a VHS cassette of the children’s attraction led by the Argentine “reina de los bajitos” were released.

Despite high ratings, Patsy, 32 years old at the time, only stayed on the air for five months. The neighboring town suffered daily electricity blackouts.

Broadcasters were forced to give priority to nighttime programming. The short run of “El Clan de Patsy” was enough to transform Patricia Lage into one of the most famous and beloved television personalities of her time and she paved the way for Xuxa to settle in Argentina shortly thereafter.

After her career, Patricia Lage hosted other programs. The stroke she suffered in 2020 kept her away from her studies. She spent the last phase of her life as a recluse.
