The influencer spoke about recreational ability and warned that it is lame when people without disabilities dress up or imitate people with disabilities
A young man sparked outrage on the Internet for imitating the influencer Leandrinha Du Art during a Halloween party in the town of Anápolis, in the hinterland of Goiás. The case was commented on by fellow influencer Ivan Baron, who uses social media to talk about inclusion and diversity.
The influencer pointed out that this is recreational ableism and said it was a case of hazing, when people without disabilities dress up, imitate or pretend to be people with disabilities.
The young man who performed the impersonation has not been identified. Police Chief Manoel Vanderic used social media to remind people that “mocking, joking, attacking or offending people based on their disability, color, sexuality, religion or origin is a crime.”
The delegate published an extract of article 88 of the Statute of persons with disabilities: “practicing, inducing or inciting discrimination against a person due to his disability: penalty: imprisonment of 1 to 3 years and fine”. “The theft and assault of a person’s self-esteem, dignity and constitution are not a mimimi. What is reprehensible is the relativization of others with this air of superiority that some still show,” the delegate said.
The influencer did not comment on the publication, despite the fact that Ivan’s video was published together with her.
