Last Tuesday, just 20 kilometers from London, the royal equestrian competition Royal Ascot began. The first day of the race was attended by Princess Beatrice with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and Countess Sophie of Wessex, as well as Mike and Zara Tindall. Yesterday, on the second day of the competition, some members of the royal family returned to the Berkshire Racecourse to see some more races.

The solemn procession before the start of the race was again led by 73-year-old Charles and his wife Camilla. The Duchess of Cornwall shone in a luxurious snow-white look – an elegant dress, a wide-brimmed hat, a pearl necklace and massive diamond earrings. Prince Charles, on the other hand, almost exactly repeated the outfit of the first day – he again tried on a light gray three-piece suit, this time with a pale pink tie.

The Countess Sophie of Wessex arrived in the second landau, an open-topped four-wheeled carriage. Sophie chose a deep sky-colored lace dress and a matching hat adorned with a large decorative flower. The Countess completed her summer look with large blue earrings.

Following them, 33-year-old Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi arrived at the event. The couple looked more democratic than on the first day of the race. This time around, Beatrice opted for a monochromatic no-floral outfit—a 60s-inspired cream neckline dress and a structured boater hat—and ditched the embellishments. Her husband also chose soft colors for the exit – a tuxedo, a top hat and a tie in gray, black and blue tones.

It should be noted that for the British, Royal Ascot is one of the main social events of the summer, which, by the way, has a rather strict dress code, so guests prepare in advance, planning their looks and ordering hats from eminent masters. For many, this is an unprecedented opportunity to try on their best outfits. This year, the races will be held from June 14 to 18 and, as usual, will attract thousands of spectators.

Usually, the royal family appears at the races in full force, but every year it becomes more and more difficult for Elizabeth II to move around – now she regularly uses a cane – so she missed the opening of the competition on Tuesday, having previously made an official statement. By the way, 5 days before the event, the queen sent more than ten horses from her stable in Windsor to the races. Therefore, despite the fact that she was pretty tired of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the reign, her presence at the races during the week is still possible.
