The death of singer Chuy Montana, 25, has plunged the world of regional Mexico into mourning.
Last Wednesday, February 7, it was reported that the performer of the corridos tumbados was allegedly “deprived of his freedom by a group of men”, who allegedly murdered him after he managed to escape, according to media outlet Punto Norte.
Months before his death, he opened up about some aspects of his life, such as the moment he apologized to his father and his desire to help his mother.
Chui Montana forgave and apologized to his father
It was last March 27, 2023 when Chuy Montana was a guest on ‘Points of View’. The podcast”, by Ernesto Barajas, and recounted the conversation he had with his father.
“I said to my dad one day: ‘You, all the mistakes you made, I forgive you. Because? Because you don’t need to hold grudges in your heart,” he said.
He pointed out that this conversation took place before he was hired by the label of Jesús Ortiz Paz, leader and singer of Fuerza Regida.
“And I remember telling him before it all happened. I start analyzing and (thinking): ‘Verg…, why did I do that?’ (…) As I already knew inside, I don’t know what I asked for…” he said.
The singer and songwriter of ‘Porte de scarface’ revealed that he also apologized to his father, because he wanted to avoid feeling guilty.
“And I said to him: “I apologize if one day I disrespect you and I apologize, I know that maybe you made a lot of mistakes, but it’s a shame…, right now I’m going to start a road, which I honestly don’t want to carry anything and I want to be me”, he narrated.
“My dad cried with me. It is the first time (he) cries with me. I’m quite a whiner, so is my dad, right in front of me, no. This is crazy! I said: “How nice!” he said.
Chui Montana had a desire to fix his mother’s house
In the same speech, Chuy Montana expressed that he wanted, with the money he earned from his early musical successes, to improve his mother’s house.
“My dad said he was never going to build the house because he was born humble and he didn’t want to invest in it because when he dies he doesn’t take anything with him,” she explained.
“But, I said to my mother: ‘Ask God to do me well, to give me ching… and I will build your house as you want,'” he added.
Among his other goals, he said, were “getting a nice car, putting a down payment on a house” and getting “life and medical insurance” for himself and his mother.
So far, the family of Jesús Norberto Cárdenas Vázquez, the artist’s real name, has not commented on his death.
