Jon Bon Jovi responds to criticism of his vocal performance and talks about health problem: ‘I trust my doctor’

Jon Bon Jovi spoke about the vocal problems he has faced, after receiving criticism about his performance as a singer on the American tour of Bon Jovi in 2022. Check out his statement to Pollstar Live!, where he received the Milestone award for his band’s 40th anniversary (via Blabbermouth):

This is public knowledge now, but I had major reconstructive surgery on my vocal cords and have never had anything like this. So it’s been a tough road, but I found a doctor in Philadelphia who did something called medialization [um procedimento no qual a prega vocal paralisada (corda vocal) é empurrada para o meio para que a prega vocal funcional possa fechar adequadamente para recuperar função vocal normal e capacidade de engolir], because one of my strings was literally atrophied. Sometimes people get lumps; This is a pretty common place. Sometimes deviated septums and things they’ve done affect the strings. The only thing that has ever happened to my nose has been my finger. And that’s why it was very difficult in the last decade to have to deal with something that was out of my control, which was… [corda vocal] The strong was literally taking what was left of the weak. So they put a plastic implant in her almost two years ago. I’ve been in this rehab, recovering everything, but I’m getting very close. Friday night [na festa de gala de Personalidade do Ano do MusiCares], was my first live performance in two years. The new disk is ready. So now I just want to get back to working two and a half hours a night, four nights a week, before heading out on the road again. But I’m confident in my doctor.
