We highlight some celebrities using their platforms to advocate for inclusion

Last Friday (17), Brazil paid tribute to the fight against LGBTQIA+ phobia. The date is important to raise awareness among the population in the daily battle against prejudice.

Over the years, several celebrities have revealed that they are part of the LGBTQIA+ community and have used their platforms to advocate for inclusion. With this in mind, we have selected five Brazilian celebrities who are part of the community, but who may have gone unnoticed by you.

Camila Pitanga

Despite not having a defined label at the moment, Camila Pitanga has been dating Beatriz Coelho for two years. However, the actress defines her sexuality as “living life” and she has even denied being bisexual.

Fernanda Gentil

The presenter speculated about her relationship with Priscila Montandon in 2016 and the two have been inseparable ever since. In fact, in past interviews, Fernanda has reflected on her public coming out process.

“I never thought about hiding, in my privileged position I know it would never have been a possibility. Now, doing so was an obstacle for all of Brazil,” She said.

The Jesuit Barbosa

Jesuíta Barbosa, an actor who played Jupiter in “Pantanal”, is another who doesn’t like labels. In previous interviews, the actor has said that he considers his sexuality “free”. Jesuíta is currently in a love affair with Cícero Ibeiro, with whom he has had an open relationship in the past.

Johnny Massaro

In 2023, the “Land and Passion” actor revealed his sexuality. Previously admitted as homosexual, Johnny Massaro confessed that, after the end of his relationship with João Pedro Accioly, he began to live a much more fluid romantic life.

“Today I feel more flexible, because I can see desire without imprisoning it. I can be with women, as happened in the end, just as I can be with men. And there is still something much beyond these two ghosts, which I haven’t tried yet, but I don’t need to limit myself”he has declared.

Rinaldo Gianecchini

Finally we have Reynaldo Gianecchini, who has come out as pansexual and is very open to talking about the fluidity of his sexuality. “You have to look at your sexuality with a magnifying glass. People treat it like a ‘yes, yes’, like a joke, like ‘Look at Zezé’s hair, is it real?’. And it’s not like that. There are many nuances and few people have fluid sexuality. I think we are a country of repressed people.“, he reflected in an old interview.
