The presenter has always been reserved regarding interviews and tributes
Silvio Santos has always been notoriously reserved when it comes to interviews and tributes. The presenter’s reluctance to share his journey and accept tributes is due to an unusual prediction made by a gypsy from the United States. According to what Silvio told Folha de S. Paulo in 2016, the gypsy predicted that he would die if he gave an interview or starred in a film. “People don’t believe it, but I do. And I don’t want to take any risks. The gypsy only spoke about the film, the book and the interview. Show, no,” the presser explained.

This fear was the reason why Silvio refused the invitation to participate in Jô Soares’s last program on Globo, which aired on December 16, 2016. Likewise, he did not accept Marília Gabriela’s invitation for an interview on the program De Frente com Gabi, which she has presented for years on SBT.
“I don’t want to be interviewed because I don’t want to reveal my inner self. It was already difficult for me to come out, now I can’t say anything anymore. People were suspicious, but they weren’t. I’m not sure,” joked Silvio, welcoming Marília Gabriela to the Troféu Imprensa.
Despite his aversion to interviews, Silvio made an exception in 2011, at the SBT 30th anniversary celebration. He answered questions from station employees at a commemorative event, dressed casually in pink shorts and a printed T-shirt. When asked if he considered himself an idol, he replied: “I’ve never cared about it and I’m surprised by my popularity. Really. It’s never been my goal. The press knows it. I don’t care.” interviews with my colleagues, I don’t go to my colleagues’ programs, because I practice my profession.
