The presenter is leading the bets to succeed Bonner at ‘Jornal Nacional’ after another season on the bench

Since the beginning of September, César Tralli has been following William Bonner’s vacation on ‘JN’. The host of ‘Jornal Hoje’ and ‘Edição das 18:00’ is considered the number 1 in the running to become the head of the 20:30 newscast.

There is nothing official about Bonner’s departure yet, except rumors that he may retire soon after Globo’s 60th anniversary celebrations next year.

Tralli’s recent season at the Jardim Botânico studio reinforces his good consensus among viewers. He receives countless compliments on social media every day.

One of his successes is to cultivate a neutral image in the context of the political radicalization of the country. He has never been so attacked by the left and the right as in the case of Bonner, the target of digital massacre and public persecution.

Tralli stands out for his soul as a reporter. Go after the news. Above all GloboNews “warms up” the news live with information received in real time from political and police sources.

The journalist’s career on TV began in an unusual way. In the early 90s, one of his faithful listeners on the radio Jovem Pan was Silvio Santos. “He listened to me from his house on SBT, every day, two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon,” the presenter told ‘Conversa com Bial’.

“One day the phone rang in the radio newsroom. ‘Look, it’s Silvio Santos for you,'” he recalls. “Whoever was on the other end spoke exactly like him. And he invited me to go there (to SBT), that they wanted to hire me, if it had been him, I don’t know, but I went there to work,” he said, laughing.

Thus, César Tralli made his debut in front of the cameras. He was part of the team for the first version of ‘Aqui Agora’. A year later, he moved to Record. In 1993, he joined Globo journalism. I lived far away, I took six buses to go to the station and back. Until, earning better, he rented a kitnet in downtown São Paulo, a few blocks from the canal.

From street journalism he became a correspondent in London, where he lived for five years. He covered important news stories, such as the conflict between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah and the death of Princess Diana. Back in Brazil he devoted himself to investigative journalism.

In 2001, he arrived in New York two days after the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers to reinforce the team of reporters. Ten years later, he took over the bench of “SPTV”, a news program broadcast in Greater São Paulo.

After another decade, he was given the job of directing ‘Oggi’ and ‘Edição das 18pm’, increasing the audience ratings. Tralli has been part of the rotation of presenters of the “Jornal Nacional” since January 2018.
