Omara Portuondothe legendary Cuban singer, announced her final retirement from the stage. The decision was made after an episode he suffered during a concert in Barcelona on October 1, when he passed out on stage.
The 93-year-old artist showed “signs of fatigue and disorientation”that’s why he’s under surveillance.
Although he is fine, his family and team felt it was the right time for him to retire due to his age and health conditions.
His son and representative, Ariel Jiménez Portuondo, issued a statement to announce his retirement from the stage, but not from music.
“During the night of this October 1, at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, after performing Osvaldo Farrés’ classic ‘Perhaps, perhaps’, she showed signs of fatigue and disorientation, so we thought it best to remove her from the stage” .
“Considering this fact, we consider in time to announce Omar’s final departure from the stage“.
After the announcement, the last performance of the Cuban singer will take place on October 6 in Budapest, where will receive a special tribute, but “in that case Omara will not sing.”
The statement explains that the performer will continue her music career by recording in her studio and ” participating in tributes and meetings with the public who wants to amuse her, only so far as her health and mood dictate.
