Gynecologist arrested after reporting sexual abuse by patients in Alphaville; the case is being investigated by the police
A 70 year old gynecologist, identified as Wagner Prettiwas arrested red-handed for sexual harassment this Monday (20th), in Barueri, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, following a complaint from a patient. The case had great resonance, especially due to the seriousness of the accusations and the behavior of the doctor, who worked in the Alphaville area, an elegant neighborhood of Barueri.
Patient complaint
The victim reported that, during one visit, the doctor had inappropriately touched her body, which led the patient to report the incident to the police station. Apart from her, four other women also showed up at the police station to register similar cases, indicating that the doctor may have acted the same way with other patients.
The accusations generated an immediate mobilization of the authorities. Civil Police arrested Gracious in the act and is under investigation for sexual harassment. Furthermore, the Regional Council of Medicine of São Paulo also launched an investigation to investigate the doctor’s conduct and verify whether he had a history of inappropriate behavior during the practice of his profession.
Custody hearing
The doctor’s custody hearing is scheduled for the next few hours and the expectation is that he will remain in prison while the case is investigated.
