The fall fashion weeks this year turned out to be quite eccentric. The Milan shows were especially notable for various provocative ideas of fashion houses – for example, the sensational Gucci show using twins and unusual face decorations, or theatrically falling models (and even the designer himself!) at the AVAVAV show. No less attention was drawn to the new collections of Moschino and GCDS brands, addressed to the younger generation and exploiting the themes of carefree childhood and cartoon characters. Thus, the designer of the GCDS house, Giuliano Calza, presented evening dresses with SpongeBob on the catwalk, and Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino, dressed the models in air mattresses and life buoys in the form of pink flamingos. The fairy-tale hero can also be seen on dresses, bags and shoes from the new Gucci collection: brand designer Alessandro Michele uses the image of Gizmo the gremlin from the 1984 film.
Of course, you should not take such elements too seriously. Outrageous images of models on the catwalk are primarily intended to embody the creative idea of the designer, and only then – in a transformed form, migrate to the wardrobes of fashionistas and fashionistas. As for the undoubted trends of the upcoming spring-summer season, here we can single out several bright and interesting elements at once.

Decorative crosses
In the jewelry and accessories of several brands at once, we see various kinds of crosses. These are massive jewelry crosses from the show or Dolce & Gabbana, and unusual fabric tops in the shape of crosses from the Blumarine collection, and small dangling Gucci cross earrings. Of course, this is a reference to the fashion of the 1980s, once launched by Madonna and “picked up” by the house of Versace in the 90s and 2000s. The crosses on the Blumarine models are made in the Neo-Gothic style and complement the image of a modern mermaid conceived by the designer.
The frayed blue and green denim, which is gaining momentum again, is repeated in the collections of other brands: denim shoes and boots at Diesel, bags at Altuzarra, and even the legendary Bottega Veneta “trick” where Kate Moss’s “denim flannel” outfit actually turned out to be artfully crafted. lined with leather.

Chains and fringes
Chains still do not give up their leading positions. They appeared on shows as massive chokers, and in the form of thin long chains hanging in several rows, and as belts and belts, and even as a full-fledged element of clothing – for example, tops at GENNY brand shows. And in general, what could be the best advertisement for this trend, if not the decorations on the faces of Gucci models? “Face decorations” from the brand’s creative director Alessandro Michele are nothing more than cascades of thin chains that cover the nose and cheekbones, falling over the chest and shoulders. These are glasses with a metal fringe, and rims with a scattering of tiny stones hanging down, and eyeglass frames with a metal plate attached to the nose. Strictly speaking, here the designer combined two popular trends at once: chains and fringes.

Fringe has been at the peak of fashion for more than a year. We see it literally everywhere – now it has captured the niche of accessories. Take a look at the collections of Etro, Versace, Bottega Veneta and Jil Sander – here are long shiny fringes in the spirit of the 1920s, and bright dresses in the style of Sesame Street characters (again a reference to childhood and favorite cartoons), and gothic leather bags with fringe, and various kinds of belts, and large woven earrings in the style of macrame… The fringe of Bottega Veneta this season is made, according to the designer, in a new technique, in which the threads are integrated into the fabric, and all this is knitted by hand. I am sure that this interesting element will appear more than once both on the catwalks and in the wardrobes of modern fashionistas.

“Interesting” heels and high soles
As for shoes, one cannot fail to note the undoubted trend for beveled and convex heels of all kinds of bizarre shapes. The fashion for such accent details is still gaining popularity, and such shoes will be relevant both in the spring and in the fall of 2023. We see them in the collections of almost all brands: Zimmermann, Christian Dior, Ferragamo, GCDS, Alberta Ferretti and so on.
I would also mention Balmain shoes on a huge platform and the collection of the Loewe brand, where the anthurium flower became the main motive. Against the backdrop of laconic dresses and tops, the Loewe designer presented transparent “inflated” shoes with floral painting, and voluminous boots made of deflated balloons, and gold “Minnie Mouse shoes”, and clutches made as if made of porcelain.

An interesting trend is emerging for leather shoes with a plastic effect, such as in the collections of Emporio Armani, Moschino, Diesel and Fendi. In some way, this is again a reference to the “children’s” theme: we once saw such nominal shoes and boots on Barbie dolls and favorite cartoon characters.

Miniature accessories and bags of outlandish shapes
Among the many variations of fashion accessories, in my opinion, the miniature handbags of Blumarine and Gucci and bags of outlandish shapes, like those of Trussardi and Moschino, especially stand out. The last brand used in its collection “inflatable” bags, small bright leather clutches on chains and handbags of ironic shapes: in the form of an inflatable baby ball, a water mattress or a sandbox bucket.
Bright acid bags, matching in color with shoes, were used by Fendi brand designer Kim Jones. Atypical colors for them – green, blue and coral – give the collection a special freshness. To the classic Fendi trapeze bag, Jones added a massive chain of bright color, and the famous Fendi First asymmetric bag appeared in a new design – made of plastic and fur.

Metal accessories
Another trend of the upcoming season is metal accessories. Today it is very important to combine different colors of metals: for example, we see this in the Versace show, where a mix of three colors of metal in one piece of jewelry rhymes perfectly with other details of the image.
I would also like to mention the brilliant silver of geometric shapes from the Missoni collection. Feminine images are wonderfully complemented here by large accent earrings and discreet thin bracelets. Donatella Versace also showed a brilliant combination of metal and leather in jewelry and accessories.
A surprising phenomenon of past shows was clothing decorated with metal elements: for example, piercings and zippers at the Tokyo James show or sparkling metal bodices at the Vivetta show – when it is not completely clear whether this is a piece of clothing or an independent piece of jewelry worn instead of it.
I also can’t help but note the unusual African-style hair ornaments from the Luisa Beccaria show – now this is a very bright trend!

Gloves
In the new season, leather gloves in bright colors become a stylish element of catwalk looks. Designers combine gloves not only and not so much with outerwear, but with linen-style dresses and short-sleeved tops. Often, gloves are matched to suits and jackets in a repeating pattern, as at the Roberto Cavalli show. Tall and short, suede and lacquered, gloves are once again breaking into the wardrobes of fashionistas around the world.
