It’s anti-trend! Top 5 Winter Shoe Mistakes We’ve All Made

We don’t know about you, but our mood often deteriorates in winter. Either the lack of sun affects or the cold wind in the face, but there seem to be more irritants. It’s in our power to make sure your winter wardrobe doesn’t bother you at all – we fix the most common mistakes so you look your best!

Finding beautiful sandals is not difficult – every top shoe brand has a nice model. There are not so many requirements for it: it must be comfortable, trendy and bright – after all, summer! But in winter, we ask ourselves a lot of questions about shoes: is it warm? Comfortable? True to size, allows you to wear a thick sock? Suitable for down jacket / coat / jacket / fur coat? To match with jeans/chinos/skirt/dress? Will he survive next season?

To put it mildly, “face control” (or even shoe control) turns out to be serious. As always, we begin to deal with the problem of the opposite: first, figure out how not to wear winter shoes, and then select stylish models for the cold. We have already prepared a guide to the most beautiful shoes for you!

So the error would be…

Choose a half season

So the first mistake we all make sometimes in winter is to trust the mid-season. The puncture is very clearly felt when the temperature outside the window drops below -10 degrees: then low insulated shoes, Chelsea boots and high boots will not save us. Yes, they look great, but their time ends in November at best, in some areas even earlier. In the cold, you need real winter boots, high fur boots, dutiks and warm hikers for sunny days.

Experiencing an unstable heel

All this, of course, is very beautiful – up to the first puddle of ice, which has turned into a skating rink and takes you straight to the emergency room. This photo, by the way, was taken during Fashion Week 2015: then it was almost impossible not to wear stilettos – everyone did. Now, fortunately, fashionistas have seen the charm of a stable column heel, and the traumatic stiletto heel is left for truly appropriate images.

Shorten your legs

The great scourge of winter outfits is the wrong pants. Here we have separately collected 5 of the most unfortunate models of 2022 – they are, in principle, difficult to style, and in “gratitude” they can also crop your figure. Pants that end at the ankle and, moreover, have an extension at the hips, threaten to reduce your height by a few centimeters.

The situation can be partially corrected by well-chosen boots or ankle boots: they must “fit” under cropped pants so as not to create at least a second horizontal line on the ankle and not leave a space of “bare” skin. And if your winter shoes cut the leg line in the wrong place, we’ll fine it.

Get out of the palette

We have nothing against accent boots – on the contrary, it’s one of our favorite things. You can transform your favorite monochromatic look by simply adding shoes in an unusual color or style. But it would be a big mistake to buy only such non-trivial models – and who will take care of the base? Winter shoes should not only be beautiful and warm, but also versatile: you will wear them with different outerwear, and each time the combination should be harmonious.

Therefore, do not forget that in winter, boots and “dutiks” of black / beige / brown / gray colors will definitely come in handy – depending on what shades you wear, a fur coat, a jacket and a down jacket.

Choose the wrong style of “bottom”

We return to the question that the wrong combination of pants and shoes can shorten the legs. But this is only one of the problems: cargo tucked into winter cossacks, skinny jeans with thin thigh high boots or a midi skirt with medium-high boots can look inharmonious.

Each shoe model has a list of friend and foe items: for example, wide boots are good with casual pants tucked into shoes, and moonboots are perfect with tight leggings or, conversely, baggy jeans – but without pockets or excessive decoration.
