Australian cricketer Georgia Voll has quietly returned to Australia following allegations surrounding her relationship with national team vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner.
The 21-year-old batter, who is now in a relationship with Gardner following their widely publicised affair, was spotted back on Australian soil this week for the first time since the controversy erupted.
Voll was photographed strolling along the Brisbane River at Newstead on Thursday alongside fellow cricket player Caitlin Mair. She kept a low profile during the outing, wearing a black hoodie and white baseball cap.

It is understood that Voll touched down in Australia on Wednesday after completing the UK cricket season with Welsh Fire in the Hundred competition.
She is expected to resume playing duties for local club Sandgate-Redcliffe Gators and could return to action as early as Thursday night, with another appearance tipped for Saturday.

Public Allegations and Marriage Breakdown
Her return comes just weeks after allegations surrounding her relationship with Gardner exploded into the public spotlight and generated headlines around the world.
The Daily Mail was first to report details of the relationship between Gardner and Voll, sparking fierce criticism from Gardner's estranged wife, Monica Wright.

In a dramatic response, Wright shared a photograph of Voll to her public Instagram account last month and wrote: "This is who my wife cheated on me with."
Her claim has since been repeated widely across social media and Reddit, as well as by international media outlets such as Yahoo and The Times of India, reaching an audience of millions.

A Daily Mail world exclusive published last month detailed the end of Wright and Gardner's marriage following a conversation at their home on Sydney's Northern Beaches after an Australian tour of India.
Gardner, an all-rounder who was appointed co-vice-captain of the Australian national team on January 28 alongside Tahlia McGrath, married her long-term girlfriend Wright in April 2025.

Tension During the World Cup
However, just months after their wedding, the marriage began falling apart while the team was in India for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup.
A team source with knowledge of the situation said there was noticeable awkwardness during that tour when Wright flew over to India to see her wife.
"It was a little bit weird," the insider said. "It was like something was a little bit off with Ash, but we thought it was because of the pressure of the World Cup."

The insider said it was "just horrible" when Wright arrived in India and Gardner appeared unlike herself.
Following their return to their Northern Beaches home in Sydney after the tournament, Gardner and Wright had a heart-to-heart conversation.
"When they got home, [Gardner] goes, 'Hey, look, can we talk?' and she sat her down," the source claimed.

Gardner allegedly disclosed to Wright why things had been off during her visit to India, leaving Wright "shattered" and "distraught". The conversation effectively marked the end of the couple's marriage.
The split was especially devastating for Wright because, according to the source, the couple had been discussing plans to start a family. "They were about to go to the fertility clinic. They had a booking that Monica had to cancel," said the spy.

Impact on the Australian Squad
Gardner is understood to have moved out of the home the couple shared together in November, with Wright still living in their house.
"Ash left one day. Monica came home and everything of Ash's was gone, except for the rings," said the source. "She left the wedding rings in the cupboard. Just the box of wedding rings, and that was it."
The marriage breakdown sent shockwaves through the national team, known as the Southern Stars, because Wright had been around the team for five years and knew all of the players, according to the source.

"Some of them are really good mates, and Monica has a very good relationship with a lot of [players] still. A lot of them are quite upset," added the insider. "She had messages from nearly all of the girls telling her how upset they were about it."
The sport's governing body, Cricket Australia, is apparently aware of the marriage breakdown. A source claimed a disclosure was made to Cricket Australia's National Selection Panel (NSP) when Gardner was appointed captain of the Women's Big Bash League team Sydney Sixers in November, shortly after her split from Wright.
She was later appointed co-vice-captain of the national team at the start of the year.

When contacted by the Daily Mail seeking comment and clarification, Richard Hinds, the former Fairfax sportswriter who serves as Cricket Australia's senior communications chief, said: "Yeah, no comment on that." Gardner was also contacted for comment.
While the captaincy meetings were happening, the insider said Gardner attempted to smooth things over with Wright, but the relationship could not be salvaged.
Gardner and Wright first met on a dating app in 2020, proposed to one another in April 2024, and married in a rustic ceremony in the Blue Mountains in April 2025.
