Footwear brand Gioseppo Kids has released a new back-to-school barefoot shoe collection designed to support natural foot movement in children throughout the school day.
The new line, titled La Escuela, incorporates sports trainers alongside traditional school shoes and ballet flats, aiming to combine everyday comfort with uniform requirements.

Barefoot footwear is designed to replicate the sensation of walking unshod by avoiding rigid structures that restrict a child's natural foot movement.
Minimalist footwear typically features thin, zero-drop soles, flexible construction, and wide toe boxes that allow toes to spread naturally. Advocates of the design note that allowing the foot to move freely helps maintain natural foot strength and posture during growth.
Features of barefoot footwear for children
Every model in the La Escuela collection features a flat sole with no elevation gradient from heel to toe. The shoes are constructed with flexible materials that allow the sole to bend and twist easily in all directions.
The designs also feature an extra-wide toe box, giving children's toes sufficient space to move naturally without restriction during daily activities. Soft, breathable materials are used across the collection to keep the overall weight of the shoes light for everyday wear.

School uniforms and daily activities
Children often wear the same footwear for extended hours across varied settings, starting the morning seated in classrooms before running in playgrounds or playing after school.
Until recently, barefoot footwear options were predominantly limited to athletic sneakers. The inclusion of ballet flats and classic school shoe styles in the new range allows parents to select minimalist footwear suitable for formal school dress codes.

Selecting footwear for growing feet
When choosing shoes for children, individual physical needs should guide the decision rather than relying solely on the barefoot label.
Key checks for parents include verifying proper sizing, ensuring ample space for toe movement, and checking that the footwear allows free foot motion without creating uncomfortable pressure points.
