Infanta Elena of Spain has been named Honorary Ambassador of the Solidarity Lemons festival during a visit to Novales in Cantabria over the weekend.

The royal chose an outfit tailored to the occasion, featuring a long-sleeved shirt in lemon yellow and a matching scarf tied around her neck in homage to the local celebration. She paired the vibrant top with wide-legged brown trousers, creating a simple color contrast suited for an outdoor event.

Royal summer style in Cantabria
Elena completed her summer look with a white wide-brimmed hat, an accessory she frequently wears during outdoor engagements in warm weather. Instead of formal footwear, she opted for comfortable esparto espadrilles, demonstrating how the traditional summer shoe works with loose trousers and a buttoned shirt.

The relaxed outfit stood out from the more formal attire the Infanta typically wears for official institutional duties. The combination brought together several summer wardrobe staples that define her personal style during the warmer months.

Regional recognition and royal history
The visit carried added significance as the Solidarity Lemons of Novales celebrated its first year with official status as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest. The town has maintained a historical connection to the Spanish Royal Family since 1862, when King Alfonso XII visited a local lemon grove.

During the event, Cantabria President María José Sáenz de Buruaga and actress and comedian Leonor Lavado were also honored as festival ambassadors alongside the royal visitor.

Royal family background
Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo, is the eldest daughter of King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía, and the older sister of King Felipe VI. As a senior member of the Spanish royal family, she frequently attends cultural and charitable events across Spain.
