The identity of the next James Bond actor could be revealed by the end of the year, franchise producer Amy Pascal told Deadline. The role of 007 has remained unfilled since Daniel Craig departed from the film franchise in 2021.
Pascal, a former president of Sony Pictures Entertainment who previously supervised major projects including Ghostbusters, Venom, and the latest Spider-Man film, addressed the timeline when asked when the successor to Sean Connery and George Lazenby would be announced. She stated that the end of the year is a good estimate and explained that the studio is proceeding methodically.
After working at the studio alongside historic franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, Pascal noted that succeeding Daniel Craig represents a difficult challenge to match. She added that the new actor must be something really different, captivating, and original, and said she believes they are close to finding a gem.
