Jennifer Lawrence has explained why she refuses to undergo buccal fat removal, while sharing the cosmetic procedures and beauty trends she is willing to embrace. The 36-year-old Oscar winner, who starred in No Hard Feelings, opened up about her cosmetic choices in an interview with Vogue published on Sept. 3, 2026.
Lawrence, who shares two sons with her husband Cooke Maroney, explained that she avoids extensive procedures to preserve her facial expressions. "I get baby Botox, but I can't do a lot," Lawrence told Vogue. "If my skin is going to be a little saggier than I would like, at least it looks dewy and pretty."
Despite her self-imposed limits, Lawrence confessed there is one procedure she wishes she could try. "I would love to have a buccal fat removal," she said of the minor plastic surgery where fat pads are removed from the lower cheeks for a slimmer appearance. "I can't because everybody would know, but just know that I want that."
The actress expressed caution regarding viral cosmetic trends, particularly fat transfers. "Oh, I'm really nervous about these fat transfers," she said. "I support other people doing them because I want to continue to watch and see what happens, but I don't know about that."
Her reluctance toward beauty routines also extends to common salon visits. "I hate getting my hair colored," Lawrence said. "I also hate going to the nail salon. I saw a tweet that was like, 'It's like going to the hand dentist.' It's not relaxing. It's not fun. It's really, really boring. It takes so long."
Instead, Lawrence favors facials and unconventional skin hacks she finds online, including sleeping in diaper cream. "When you're going up on retinol and your face gets red," she said, "sleeping in the Desitin [diaper cream], I noticed that it did make my pores smaller and it healed the redness."
She also takes practical steps to prevent UV damage and manage skin sensitivity. "I've been wearing a scarf over my melasma spots ever since I started Tret [retinol oil]," Lawrence explained. "Of course I get photographed and people think I'm making some sort of fashion statement. I'm literally just haggard and scaling and trying to survive."
