OPEN journalist and presenter Lampros Konstantaras shared family photos and an emotional message on social media on Wednesday evening, August 5, to mark his birthday. The post marked his first birthday since his father, Dimitris, passed away last August.

Konstantaras wrote that holidays without his father do not feel like holidays, noting that while they may contain joy, they lack the true spirit of a celebration. He added that his birthday this year feels the same way.
He wrote that this was the first year his father would not call him at 00:01 and the first time his father would not coordinate when his mother and son blow out the family cake. Reflecting on his 46th birthday, he stated that his first 46 cakes were so happy that he would still have joy and photos for two lives even if he never blew out candles again. He concluded the message by writing that his father owes him a visit and added until we meet again.
