It is another example of how to insert sport into our daily life.
All you have to do is leave your teens, 20s and approaching 40 to get your sporting performance under control. Example: is it possible to continue in sport after the age of 40? Basketball player Alex, the “Angry”42 years old, since Bauru Basket-SPgo answer.

Is it possible to play well after 40?
“It is possible to maintain a high level after 40, yes. You have to train hard both in the gym and in the sport you are playing. A good diet and with that you can continue playing after 40. I try to do as much as possible to the moment of training just trying to reach the limit of my body,” said Alex exclusively for the sports life.
Alex’s routine and diet
No pain no gain. This is Alex’s mantra for his daily life i.e. the knowledgeable person believes there is no secret to be in this condition close to completing another year of life and it just relies on hard work. Brabo also admitted that he is a fan of other sports and, above all, on vacation he “adventures” into other sports to change his routine.
“I like playing volleyball with my family. Today with the ‘fashion’ of beach tennis I like it too. Football is something I’m passionate about. I try to do a little bit of everything except basketball and keep the time healthy “, reported.
Is Alex a vegetarian? Vegan? Lover of supplements or strict with diet? None of the alternatives! So, Alex is the typical athlete who has never followed any regimen in his career. Bauru’s number 10 said that he likes to drink wine and beer from time to time and the only cure for him is not to try too hard so as not to compromise his performance.
“I’m a guy who eats everything. I’ve been to a few nutritionists, I ended up arguing because a nutritionist likes to eliminate this and that. I know when I can eat a lot and when I can’t. A full week of training or a match, there is always a little eve ‘ safe with food,” he said.
Is it time for Brabo’s “final launch”?
Anyone who thinks that this basketball idol is already preparing to say goodbye to the sport to start another cycle of life with his family is wrong. Alex doesn’t think about retiring, that is, the fans can rest assured that they will follow him for a long time and he has also unveiled his new goal in NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil).
“Not a year older, but my wish is to play two more seasons to reach 46 or 47. I want to be the most experienced player in NBB history. I don’t think anyone will be able to reach 46 playing. So , it’s something I really want and I will work hard to get to that point. I’m still hungry for victory,” he guaranteed.
Is Alex’s training method different from most?
Another doubt that may arise concerns training for Brabo, given that his status as a veteran on the fields awakens the idea that the job “partly” works. Sport Life consulted Bauru Basket’s physical coach, Bruno Camargo, who denied that there is any differentiation for any player in the team’s day-to-day life.
“I don’t create a special program for Alex. He normally follows the routine with the group. What the athlete receives is the workload, which is individualized. During the season, the athlete has to train a little more or a little ‘ less. Sometimes, we reduce his field depending on the training session so that he prioritizes these works, which we call neuromuscular,” he said.
Career
Alex was born on March 4, 1980 in the city of Orlândia (SP), he finished his basic period at Setta/Propendit-SP and so far he has played for COC-SP, CEUB-DF, Minas Tênis Clube and is in his seventh season for Bauru Basket. Brabo previously defended Maccabi Tel Aviv, from Israel, and was in the NBA in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons for San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Hornets (Current Pelicans) respectively.
In the curriculum of this veteran there is also the second place of the Euroleague (2008), and the titles of Paulista, Brasileiro of the CBB (Brazilian Basketball Confederation), NBB, Liga das Américas, Liga Sul-Americana and Troféu João Herculino .
“The peak of my career was not in the NBA because when I went there I was 23. So, I still needed to learn a lot and I learned a lot from references that were mostly in San Antonio, like Tony Parker, Ginobili, Duncan and Bruce Bowen in the defensive end. He added a lot to my game. The peak of my career was after 30. I was already with the CEUB team and at that moment I already felt like a little more complete player,” he said.
The number 10 of the Brazilian national team
Previously for the Brazilian national team, he was present at the London (2012) and Rio 2016 Olympics. He was also part of Brazil’s squad at the 2019 World Cup, when he made a name for himself for his relentless marking in star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s victory over Greece , of the Milwaukee Bucks, and the end of his was “Hopscotch”.
“Aleksandar Petrović (former coach of the Brazilian national team) had in mind to put Bruno Caboclo in defense of Giannis. Then he changed it correctly. One day of training he was with Caboclo and the other Petrović called me aside saying that I would be Antetokounmpo’s defender. When he said that I loved him because I’ve always liked having this dispute. I’ve already had the pleasure of guarding great players like Kobe Brayant, LeBron James and Steve Nash,” he recalled.
“For me there was something special. After all, I received some videos and I knew how Giannis liked to play. I studied him a lot. He is a 2.11 tall player and likes to play in front of his defender. In that position, I knew it would be difficult for him to overtake me and it would make my defense much easier. Of course, I wasn’t alone and Varejão, Caboclo and Benite helped me and productivity” he concluded.
