Let’s go

The restaurant with 30 years of history told between first courses, risottos, eggplant parmigiana and other dishes of everyday Italian cuisine has decided to bet on architecture as a reminder of the new times at home. “The first store designed by architect Vitor Penha opened in 2015 at the Shopping Cidade de São Paulo,” says one of the restaurant chain’s partners, Victor de Angelis. “We have managed to appeal to a younger audience after investing in a new ‘face’ for our homes.”

The architecture and interior design have given the restaurant a contemporary and nostalgic tone. The masonry of the walls and electrical cable ducts are evident, but the fabric-domed lampshades and layer of vintage lace applied over the bricks are reminiscent of a grandmother’s house. While the red metal structure, with an industrial air, contrasts with the hammered glass of the past. These are just some of the many details that tend to stir the hearts of customers attentive not only to the highlights of the menu, but also to the surrounding landscape.

Avenida Paulista, 1230, Shopping Cidade São Paulo, 4th floor, Bela Vista, tel. 11 3595 8583. Daily 11.30am – 11pm. Sundays and holidays from 11:30 to 22:00.

Botanicafe

Each of the Botanikafé units has its own visual language. If in the Alameda Lorena house, in Jardins, the atmosphere is that of a secret garden, in other units, such as Pinheiros, the color palette or the choice of a specific coating give the space personality. In the latter, the brick floor and the original arches of the property refer to a more Moroccan atmosphere.

In common all the chain stores have the atmosphere of a veranda on a summer afternoon. They are cozy and passionate places where you can still get good coffee, try snacks like ham-stuffed cheese bread, or even order desserts like macadamia pie served with a scoop of creamy ice cream.

The design of the houses, signed by OM Estúdio, still has a “garimpeiro look” as a trademark, with decorative finds such as the old bathtub and vanity in the bathroom of the Jardins restaurant. Another striking feature of Botanikafé’s architectural design is the reuse of original materials and structures from the space occupied by each of the units.

Botanikafé / Pinheiros – Rua Padre García Velho, 56, tel. 11 3360 8919. Monday to Friday 9am to 11pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8:00 to 23:00.

Santiago Artisan Bakery

Santiago’s Higienópolis unit opened in late 2022 and is a feast for the eyes that goes beyond the windows filled with pastries, breads and cakes. The architectural design of Estúdio Vértices is based on the 500 square meter space of a century-old warehouse with a factory atmosphere – which, in fact, is the shop.

“Our proposal in this new unit is to offer our customers the experience of visiting and tasting our loaves in a company shop, where visual contact with the production area is completely accessible and transparent, as we had already done in our first store,” explains Lucas Alves, head of company management.

One of the great architectural strengths of the house, in addition to the exuberance of the high ceilings and the rustic floor, is the small room with an Almodovarian atmosphere which can be reserved for small groups of people.

“We started making artisan bread almost ten years ago in our home kitchen, in the Lapa neighborhood. Just like sourdough, our company has grown with the time dedicated to executing and improving the work,” explains Tiago Saraiva , responsible for the production of bread from both houses.

Rua Maria Antonia, 211, Vila Buarque, tel.11 3237 2244. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm. Sunday from 8:00 to 18:00.
