Want to learn how to apply makeup, but lost with so much information? To help you out, we’ve separated a few essential makeup brush options!
As we started exploring the vast world of makeup, we discovered that there are different brush designs for every product application. Also, the correct choice of this tool can help with the final effect of the make. For example, to blend the eyes, it is useless to have a nice eyeshadow, but not to have an eyeshadow brush. You’ll also be able to apply the product to your lids, but the result won’t be quite as nice.

Therefore, we asked Bruno Valentino, hairdresser and make-up artist, what are the basic brushes for good make-up. Discover the typologies indicated by him!
1. foundation brush
The traditional diagonal-cut foundation brush is easier to find, works with both liquid and cream foundations, provides medium to full coverage, and has stiff bristles.
two. concealer brush
Synthetic bristle brush, flat and small, like a mini and slim version of the traditional foundation brush. This concealer brush is classic. Effective in applying liquid and creamy correctors, ideal for covering small spots, such as pimple marks, and for depositing the product on dark circles.
3. lip brush
This brush is indispensable! Small, slightly thin and flat, with a rounded tip and synthetic bristles. It allows you to fill in the folds of the lips, which consequently increases the life of the lipstick, as well as homogenizing the color and allowing the correct outline of the lips.
4. powder brush
The brush intended for applying the powder (whether compact, loose, translucent or coloured) must be large, full, soft, rounded in shape and made up of natural bristles, which do not scratch the previously applied foundation.
Several other types of brushes, in different sizes and shapes, can also be used for applying the powder. However, a brush with the aforementioned features will effectively perform this makeup step with virtually all types of powders.
5. blending brush
Small, composed of natural bristles, with a rounded and plump shape. Ideal for highlighting the crease and blending colors.
6. brush for outlining
This brush is multifunctional. It is used to line the eyes on the upper and lower lids, outline the waterline, fill in the brows, and apply gel eyeliner. Small, very thin, with firm bristles and a blunt top (cut diagonally).
7. eyeshadow brush
Small, made with natural bristles and flattened. The firmer the bristles, the more precision, potential building and intensification of pigments in your makeup.
