Gabrielle Gambine, granddaughter of trans model Roberta Close, who rose to fame in the 1980s and now lives a quieter life in Switzerland, is strengthening trans representation. Also top trans, 23 years old, is attracting the attention of the fashion market and also of television. And she just starred in a campaign for Rio de Janeiro-based beachwear brand Blue Man, wearing an animal-print bikini and a color-mix swimsuit, among other pieces.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, her resume also includes acting in the recent global storyline Verdades “Secrets 2”, written by Walcyr Carrasco. In the fashion market, he has starred in work for prestigious brands such as MAC, Avon, Farm, Schweppes, Sallve and Havaianas, editorials for Vogue and Glamour, as well as being featured on the catwalks of São Paulo Fashion Week and Casa de Criadores.
The 1.79m young woman was revealed by Pedro Bellver and Wellington Vieira, of Mix Models, and began her career at the age of 18, encouraged by friends who worked in the market.
Emerging in a landscape that demands representation, Gabrielle Gambine intends to use fashion and TV acting as platforms for inclusion and respect for trans and transvestite people. “There is still a long way to go in the fight against prejudice. I hope that more trans and transvestites have the opportunity to show how competent and talented they are, without labels. It is very representative that we occupy all these places,” she concluded.
Gabrielle spoke with “Them on the Red Carpet” in an exclusive interview in 2021, on the support she had from her famous aunt, now married and living in Switzerland: “She explained a lot to me and was a person who advised me on matters that other relatives could not deal with me. Having a a person like her in my family is a privilege, because I have had this reference that we can and are capable of practicing the profession we want, in the most diverse fields.
