Working while traveling around the world is the dream of many people, even more when it comes to a salary paid in dollars. For those who work on cruise ships, this is the reality. It could be for even more people: for the next cruise season there are openings that pay up to US$ 4,000 per month (about R$ 20,000).
It takes patience and some other prerequisites to advance in the selection processes, which usually last six to eight months between the start of selection and boarding the vessel.
Among the essential skills of candidates is the ability to speak Intermediate to advanced level of English and have willingness to travel for six to nine months.

How does it work?
The agencies carry out the selection free of charge, but the successful candidates must provide some documents which incur a cost, such as passport, medical exams, training in first aid and firefighting, visa for the country of departure and, in some cases, even the air ticket to the port of embarkation.
The work routine is demanding, with shifts from 11 to 13 hours per day, seven days a week. Employment complies with international law, controlled by the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC).
