5 Pretty Indoor Plants That Will Stay Small Forever

Do you remember the number of “Yeralash” about a man who wandered through the bird market with his son and a cub looking for “that bastard who sold that hamster to Vovka”?

With houseplants, such stories happen much more often: you buy a pretty little yucca, and it soon grows into a monumental palm that requires new pots, constant transplants, and more and more space.

For those who don’t want to be in that situation, we’ve put together a list of five indoor cuties that will stay small and won’t need much grooming.

Lithops (“living stones”)

According to houseplant expert and blogger Vladan Nikolic, lithops, also known as “living stones,” are unique succulents that grow no taller than two and a half centimeters. “There are many varieties of lithops in many different colors. Living Stones have pretty daisy-like flowers and are low maintenance, making them a great option for first-time growers,” says Nikolic.

Do you want to have a “pet” that you don’t have to spend a lot of time on? Take a closer look at the aerophytes, which get all the necessary substances from the air and therefore can live on any surface – ceramics, glass, stone, wood or cork. “They look like aliens, they’re very cute, they don’t take up much space, and they can be placed anywhere because soil isn’t needed,” says gardener Brian Clayton.

african violets

It will never overwhelm you with its size or the responsibility you will have to shoulder. “The African violet is a beautiful, graceful houseplant that can bloom for six months a year. Instead of producing lots of foliage, it throws out brightly colored miniature flowers that fit well into any decor,” explains Brian Clayton.

Often referred to as a zebra cactus, Striped Haworthia is another succulent that made our list. According to indoor planting expert Tom Knight, zebra is unpretentious, grows up to 20 centimeters and looks exceptionally beautiful in unusual containers or pots – in other words, the perfect option for a new aesthete. !
