University student has been disconnected from the internship program at the Rio health unit
a student of Medicinal was caught with an electronic cigarette in the Maternidade Municipal Leila Diniz obstetric center, in Barra da Tijuca (west area of River). A photo of him holding the device has been circulating on social media since late last week, when the image was allegedly taken.
The student participated in the maternity internship program and was fired by the management of the health unit due to the incident. The use of cigarettes of any kind in a hospital setting is expressly prohibited.
In a note, the management of the maternity hospital informs that it “deplores the posture of the medical student, surprised with the device, even if apparently switched off, in the obstetrics centre”. Management points out that there were no patients in labor at the time.
The student is a private university student and was not identified by the report to comment on the incident.
