The young Juliana Nalú, born and raised in the Chapadão favela complex, in Rio de Janeiro, has taken another step in her international career. At age 25, she embodies the beauty of galaxies in the new global beauty campaign for North American brand Anastasia Beverly Hills.

This is the launch of the “Cosmos Palette” line, a new beauty line with a futuristic twist. In June, the model also starred in an eyewear campaign for Italian brand Pucci. Unveiled in 2016, when she won the “CUFA-Solte Seu Brilho” competition, held by Rede Globo in partnership with Central Única das Favelas, Juliana has since garnered campaigns for powerful brands such as L’Oréal, Skims, the lingerie brand basic Kim Kardashian; Kanye West’s Yeezy, who she dated last year; Urban Outfitters, among many others.
In an interview with “Them on the Red Carpet”in February 2022, she said she was proud to be from the favela: “Out here, when they meet me and ask me where I’m from, I say full of pride: ‘I’m from Rio, from the favela.'” mouth full, because that’s how we’re going to change this stereotype that coming from the favela is a bad thing, reaching high places and beating your chest with great pride saying you’re from Chapadão, Cidade de Deus or wherever you’re from For me, being born there was a blessing, I was able to have incredible experiences and prove that you are really “good”!”
Represented in Brazil by Pedro Bellver and Wellington Vieira, of Mix Models, Juliana Nalú has already worked in contested markets such as the UK, Spain and Greece. You recently moved to New York after six years living in Los Angeles. In addition to acting in fashion, she Juliana graduated in Performing Arts at CAL-Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras and participated in the latest episode of the telenovela “Second Sun”by Rede Globo, as Chay Suede’s romantic partner, in 2018.
Parallel to her artistic career, Juliana manages the “Sementes da Favela” project, which aims to reveal new talents from Brazilian communities. The platform (available at favelaseeds.com) brings together portfolios of talent aspiring for careers in entertainment and fashion, living in vulnerable locations, connecting content with industry professionals, with the aim of generating opportunities in different areas, such as fashion, music, manufacturing, visual arts and photography.
“I have been combining work in fashion with this project for some time, together with a specialized team, with the aim of generating new possibilities for the young people of the favela, who fight and dream of a space in such contested markets. Their creations are seen by those that generate opportunities,” he says.
