holiday theme
FILE São Paulo 2023 works with the theme “Interactive Singularities”. This is the science fiction hypothesis according to which the mutual interaction between artificial intelligences (AI) and humans would lead to the development of a simulated consciousness. That is, an “artificial self”, which could dialogue with the “natural self”, exchange information and experiences in different ways.
This idea, according to Paula Perissinotto and Ricardo Barreto, curators and co-founders of FILE, goes against the idea that AI will soon become autonomous and self-aware.
“A joint ‘mixed consciousness’ would link human consciousnesses to the vast knowledge produced in human history through an artificial consciousness and this could bring about an evolutionary transformation. Not as a single artificial singularity that would dominate humanity, but as ‘Mixed Singularities’ interacting among themselves, to solve the world’s complex problems”, explain the curators on the proposed edition.
