An experiment conducted by scientists from the University of North Carolina showed that when washing raw chicken, its bacteria gets not only on your hands, but also on dishes and kitchen utensils. As a result, up to a quarter of study participants who washed poultry before cooking were diagnosed with an acute intestinal infection.
The fact is that many bacteria accumulate on the surface of the carcass, including dangerous salmonella.
They should also not be washed immediately before cooking or frying. The egg shell, although very thick, is porous and the only protection against penetration of bacteria inside is a thin waterproof layer. It is damaged when washing raw eggs, which means it becomes easier for bacteria to carry out their “dirty” business.
