With this in mind, the nutritionist Jussiara Corsiniproduction coordinator at Tasty Salad Shop, explains the importance of keeping the body properly hydrated.

Importance of drinking water in hot weather

“Maintaining adequate hydration is essential for our body, especially on the hottest and driest days, like the ones we are experiencing. Water is responsible for the proper functioning of our body’s cells, since it is what transports oxygen to them and mineral salts. Furthermore, water also acts to eliminate toxins from our body, through sweat and urine”, underlines Jussiara.

However, excessive sweating, caused by days of intense heat, can also cause damage to your health.

“When our body produces a greater amount of sweat, the result is a significant loss of water, which can lead to dehydration. Therefore, it is necessary to intensify water intake at these times to avoid imbalances in the body,” he explains.

Therefore, for adequate hydration, the nutritionist recommends consuming at least two liters of water per day.

“The preference is always to drink pure water, but to supplement hydration we can drink natural fruit juices, without added sugar, such as orange, watermelon, strawberry and pineapple juice, which are rich in water”, advises the nutritionist .

He also emphasizes that hydration is not limited to just drinking water when you are thirsty, as thirst may often not be noticed immediately, leading to a state of dehydration.

“It is essential to adopt the practice of always keeping a bottle of water on hand to facilitate regular fluid intake throughout the day,” concludes Jussiara.
