Fortunately, modern laundry detergents and bleaches can remove traces of just about anything—unless, of course, you make one of these five mistakes.
 
 
“When you see a fresh stain, you instinctively want to rub it thoroughly, but this can lead to the fact that the dirt will only penetrate deeper into the fibers of the fabric,” explains Karina Toner, employee of a cleaning company .  She advises not to get too enthusiastic and to gently blot the stain with a clean cloth so as not to sink it deeper into the material.
 
 
Hot water kills a lot of things, like bacteria.  However, according to Thomas Giarraputo, cleaning expert and vice president of cleaning services, in case of protein stains – traces of blood, sweat, milk, etc.  – the temperature will only ruin everything.  “To get rid of it, use cold water and a stain remover,” recommends Thomas.
