Employee Wellbeing: Companies offer online psychologists

Almost 10% of the population suffers from problems of this type. Access to psychological support is not universal

Brazil is the country with the highest incidence of anxiety disorders on the entire planet, according to the latest survey by the World Health Organization (WHO). Almost 10% of the population suffers from problems of this type. Access to psychological support, however, is not yet universal. In the labor market, therefore, it is increasingly common for companies to offer therapeutic plans to their staff.

In Brazil, a fintech that offers a multi-benefit platform for Human Resources (HR) departments has registered, among its products, the Online Psychologist as one of the most sought after in recent months.

“There is a movement among companies to care more about the well-being of their employees. This is good for them and for the company, which reduces turnover and increases loyalty (from the employee to the organization)”, explains the Operations manager of SalaryFits, Maria Eugenia Mapelli.

The package is offered by SalaryFits to companies’ human resources through a partnership that the startup has with the Psicologia Viva platform. The plan includes 24-hour, seven-day-a-week service. The sessions are held via video conference. There is the possibility of extending the benefit to the employee’s family members as well. Payment is made via payroll deduction, which makes the values much cheaper than those practiced conventionally, underlines the SalaryFits executive.

The programming of the teleconsultation, in turn, takes place via the same Psicologia Viva platform. When accessing it, the person can select the topic that motivates them to seek therapy – there are dozens of topics listed. The service can be provided at any time of the day.

“The platform brings together professional psychologists who are graduates and registered with the Regional Council of Psychology for the practice of the profession, with specific registration (e-Psi) for support via video calls. Everyone follows a secure verification and accreditation process, as well as respecting rigorous ethical and confidentiality codes”, underlines Psicologia Viva.

Concern for employees increases

In addition to online therapy, benefits such as telemedicine, dental plan, professional courses, and undergraduate and postgraduate courses are among the products aligned with employers’ focus on employees’ quality of life. “SalaryFits has expanded its range of products and services from being a payroll management platform to offering wellness, health and education,” says Maria Eugenia Mapelli.

“The personal loan is a great advantage, after all it allows those in debt to exchange their debt for a cheaper one, or to obtain a loan to cover an emergency. In this sense we also have the possibility of a salary advance, that is, the possibility of making a purchase by withholding the payment from the paycheck. But we go further, with well-being benefits that also serve the whole family.”

SalaryFits clients are corporate human resources. They don’t pay for using the platform. The remuneration for the service is carried out by the startup’s partner companies, at the time of offering the products. According to the Operations manager, even if the employees are not the clients of the service, the startup also invests to get closer to its employees.

“By knowing our products, employees can demand that HR contract the benefits we offer,” he concludes.
