Do you have a few minutes to dedicate just to yourself during the day? A 5-minute guided meditation, repeated every day, may be the way and enough time to help you deal with anxiety, stress, difficulty concentrating, depression and other ailments.
Many of us suffer from these problems, to a greater or lesser extent. But this is no surprise: we are constantly stimulated by news, information, advertising, etc., and we live daily with (self-)demands, expectations and challenges of all kinds.

Why meditate?

Meditative practices are an opportunity to pause the stress mode of the mind and body, reconnecting our different capacities and providing a pause for our innate intelligence to flourish and take care of us.
Therefore, during meditation, the body naturally enters a state of self-regulation and the mind detaches itself from conditioned thoughts and rediscovers its potential for centering and clarity.
Is 5 minutes of guided meditation enough?
There is no formula. The best time is the one you truly dedicate yourself to. 5 minutes worth it committed practice half an hour of meditation without obligation and without desire.
However, just as plants grow if they are well cared for, the benefits of meditation will manifest themselves as we dedicate ourselves to the practice.
If you only have 5 minutes, start meditating for this time, as it is a possible moment of dedication, even if you have a hectic life and it can already bring the first benefits.
When you can take two or more breaks a day, take advantage of it too. The sum of these moments will make the difference and will encourage you to continue practicing, until you naturally increase the time dedicated to this practice.

Step by Step: 5 Minute Guided Meditation

Choose a place that is as quiet as possible and take the necessary measures to avoid being interrupted during practice.
If you want, you can use this meditation for sleep in 5 minutes. Simply organize everything before going to bed and then follow the same steps below.
In any case, the most important thing is to practice, no matter how long you want and can do it.
- Sit in the chair, placing your feet firmly on the floor.
- Try to identify the points of greatest tension in the body and allow this region to release with each exhalation. Remember that you don’t need to solve any problems right now: this is your time for a regenerating break.
- Let your arms relax, resting your hands on your knees as is most comfortable for you.
- Choose whether to close your eyes or keep them open but relaxed.
- Loosen your jaw slightly, allowing your lips and tongue to relax. You smile slightly.
- Take a few deep, full breaths, then let your breath flow spontaneously.
At the end of the practice, notice how you feel. What are the sensations in the body, what is your mental state like, what is the overriding sensation.
Recognize how important it is to take breaks like this, remembering that it is a daily cultivation. Day after day, as you persist, you will likely notice tangible changes.
