In São José dos Campos, inland from São Paulo, Francisco de Oliveira attracted attention by sharing his work with capitate prosthetics on social media. Praised for the naturalness of the threads applied to adult men, the photos posted began to go viral and, thanks to their success, the barber began receiving reports on the story of João, a boy from Taboão da Serra who suffered severe burns and lost most of his hair, that no longer grows.
In an interview with BBC News Brazil, Juliana Cerqueira, the boy’s mother, said she lost two daughters in the accidental fire and that João, then two and a half years old, remained in a coma and underwent 18 surgeries. He is currently well received new locks at the hands of Francisco.
The story was so shared that other families decided to chase the barber, taking away children who had experienced similar situations. Lorenzo Gabriel, for example, also a victim of a fire, was taken from Pernambuco and they were all smiles with the result of the new hair!

Given the request, Francisco ended up creating a project, which took the name of the first client (and his city of origin) that gave rise to this whole story: João Taboão. To make the job doable, crowdfunding has been started and all the results are shared on an Instagram profile ( @projeto_joao_taboao).
There is no shortage of praise in the comments. “Congratulations on an incredible job,” “What a wonderful attitude,” and “You are an angel in these people’s lives” are just some of the examples of support that Francisco receives from his followers – there are already 42 thousand following the profile.
