With the high temperatures recorded during the end-of-year holidays, choosing the perfect drink to accompany your dinner takes on even more importance. Therefore, craft beer becomes a great option. But, when breaking with the tradition of wine, it is important to know how to pair it with food to enjoy the freshness and refinement of the drink.
To that end, Mad Brew’s brewmaster, Matheus Falcão, lists some of the best combinations of Homemade beers to harmonize with the more traditional foods of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Watch!
1. Hop obsession for roast turkey
Roast turkey is the most traditional dish of Christmas celebrations. “Christmas Turkey pairs very well with Hop Obsession beer, as the American IPA offers a hoppy, citrusy profile to cut through the fat of the turkey,” says Matheus Falcão.
2. Witchbier for cod and lamb salad
According to the beer sommelier, cod and lamb pair best with Witchbier. The drink has fruity, citrus and spicy notes, which pair well with the cod salad, adding a subtle aromatic dimension without overpowering the delicate flavors of the fish. For lamb, the spicy notes provide a refreshing contrast.

3. Red alert for pork shank
Pork shank is a holiday favorite. “If someone prefers ham, Red Alert beer is perfect, as it has malty and slightly toasted notes, harmonizing very well with the succulent flavor of the pork leg,” says the beer expert.
4. Mente Nera and Weisstein for Desserts
At the end of the year there is no shortage of desserts. “For those who don’t want to give up a good dessert, the sommelier recommends Black Mind and Weisstein beers. The first has toasted flavors and the second fruity and light notes, both pair very well with pavês, puddings and other desserts”, guarantees Matheus Falcão.
5. Freak Lab French Toast
Typically Christmas dish that cannot be missing from Brazilian dinners. For the BrewerA good beer to accentuate the flavor of French toast is Freak Lab. “Because it’s acidic, it cuts the sweetness of this treat, providing an interesting and refreshing combination,” he says.
