Unfortunately for many people, many 2024 holidays will fall on weekends, creating fewer opportunities for rest.
Last Thursday (28), the federal government published the list of national holidays and optional points for the year 2024. There will be 18 dates in total, 8 of which are optional. This year will have one more national holiday than previous ones, as Black Awareness Day is now included in this category.
However, despite the addition, many people were sad about the dates on which the national holidays fell this year. Many ended up staying on weekends (September 7, October 12 and November 2), days that are already free for much of the population. What remains appears on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
In other words, none of those celebrations that fall on a Thursday and sometimes guarantee a “schedule” with Friday for that trip, for example. In the optional points calendar the situation is a little better, at least in the first semester.
