House in Trancoso is inspired by the colonial architecture of southern Bahia


The Conrado Ceravolo office design uses rustic materials and regional craftsmanship

Located in Trancoso (BA), the Casa Aponem – designed by the office Corrado Ceravolo – is a tribute to Bahian colonial architecture, inspired by the historic houses of southern Bahia. Built for a couple with two children, it is also used for tourist rentals.




You rustic materials, including round eucalyptus wood and masonry, harmonize with the natural landscape of the region. The result is a residence that blends with the external environment, bringing comfort inside.

The contribution to the local community is highlighted in this project, as the Most of the materials used were handcrafted by local traders.as well as the clay floorwhich in addition to being durable are sustainable.

Although the land has small slopes and a particular shape, the architects managed to integrate the house with the pool area, making it possible to see most of the rooms from the outside. Opening the house also allows you to constant ventilationmaking it naturally cool, even during hot summer days, eliminating the need for air conditioning and contributing to energy savings.

In the distribution of spaces, the master suite occupies the first floor to ensure privacy, two bedrooms have been installed on the ground floor and what was an old building outside the house has been transformed into a bedroom, providing additional accommodation for family, friends or guests.
