If there is something that the animal world has in common, it is the records cataloged by the “Guinness Book”. Now, a Brazilian couple has decided to enter the dispute and try to recognize their cat as the largest in the world!

The owners Márcia Oliveira and Jean Martins have been trying for at least six years to give the title to the kitten (which has nothing “small”) Xartrux.

According to the couple, the pet, which measures 1.30 meters in length and weighs just over 10 kilos, is fully capable of winning the title of the world’s largest.

According to g1, in January the couple sent the necessary documentation and photos to the Guinness Book and now the mascot can officially be one of the candidates to receive the award.

“When we measure it from the tip of the nose to the tail, and it is relaxed, we can reach 1.35 meters,” revealed the owner, Márcia.

The first response from the organization should arrive between the end of April and the beginning of May, when the Guinness Book will say whether or not it will approve the cat’s candidacy.

At this stage an official measurement of Xartrux will be carried out, in the presence of a journalist, a photographer and a judge, to confirm the size of the cat.

At 6 years old, Xartrux is a Maine Coon, a breed known for its large size and considered the largest among cats.

Males of this breed usually measure an average of 1.10 m in length, while females are slightly smaller, about 10 centimeters shorter.

According to the Brazilian owners, Xartrux’s size is larger than that of the largest cat currently alive, an Italian Maine Coon measuring 1.19 m.

The previous record belonged to Swetie, who measured 1.23 m, but he died in 2016.

Despite being very large and hairy, as is typical of the breed, the owner says that Xartrux was once considered the “dwarf” of the class, but ended up growing disproportionately, which attracted everyone’s attention.

“He was born at home and was the smallest kitten in the litter, he didn’t even weigh 80 grams. He was very small, we thought he wouldn’t develop, but, little by little, he surpassed his brothers,” said Márcia.

“I didn’t imagine he would reach this size. But at four months old he was already a larger than normal cat and stood out in competitions,” he explained.

The couple, who already have a passion for cats, have been breeding and raising Maine Coon felines since 2013.

They care for the cats with a balanced diet, bathing every 15 days and brushing two or three times a week. The couple’s work is recognized by national and international bodies.

“[O tratamento] It does not differ in anything given to others. I don’t even consider the expenses we have to bear, but rather investments for their well-being,” Márcia said in an interview with g1.

He also reported that, despite being large, the cat is very calm: “He [Xartrux] He has all the standards of the breed, size, docility, he is a sweet, dear, sociable, good-natured, lazy cat, he does what he wants with us.”

Owners have many cats at home, including Maine Coons, Persians, Sphynxes (known for being hairless), mixed breed cats (SRDs), Siberians, and Masquerades.

“I say I have feline DNA in my blood. Cats and I have the same DNA. When I was a child I exchanged pocket money, I stopped playing to take care of them,” he revealed.

“It’s a very pleasant job, they give us a lot of emotional support. I always say that my mission on Earth is to raise them so that they bring love to people,” the tutor said.

The affection and company of cats were very important to the owner, who managed to beat breast cancer last year. According to her it was a great victory for the whole family.

“I could never have gone through the entire treatment without my cats. They were my emotional support, they gave me strength, affection, in the worst moments of chemotherapy, they purred and showed all the love they have for me”, underlined the caregiver.
