Researchers from the University of Murcia, Spain, M. Garaulet, P Gómez-Abellán, JJ Alburquerque-Béjar, YC Lee, JM Ordovás and FAJL Scheer have identified through research that the timing of meals affects weight loss.

Understand the impact of meal times on weight loss

This experiment evaluated the role of lunchtime for weight loss in obese patients following a low-calorie diet. The 420 obese patients followed the diet in terms of calories and food quality. And they were split between the team that ate lunch before 3pm and the group that ate lunch after 3pm.

After four months of research, the early lunch group experienced greater weight loss. And the group that ate late showed greater insulin resistance and lost less weight.

This way they consumed fewer calories at breakfast and skipped this meal with less protein at lunch, crucial factors for metabolic disorders.
