Do you live in a studio and always put off putting away your winter clothes? You’re not alone: Huge walk-in closets are more common in TV shows than in real life.
However, according to experts, you can do without them, and today we will tell you how to organize compact storage of winter clothes in a house where there are few or no closets.
First rule: get rid of unnecessary things
This principle of space organizers has already raised eyebrows, but that doesn’t stop it from being important. “No amount of tricks, baskets, or fancy organizers will help you if your closet is overcrowded. Boxes won’t make you feel better if you feel guilty about certain things. Get rid of the expensive dress you don’t wear, but grimace every time you remember how expensive it was. Don’t hold on to things that have become too small for you,” advises Ruth Schafer, a professional housekeeper.
Her colleague Halima Burton believes that the start of a new season is the best time to get rid of unnecessary things. “You can go through your winter and spring clothes at the same time, evaluate your wardrobe and decide what to keep and what to throw away, sell or donate,” she says. “You will know exactly what you have and what is worth buying.” Is the decluttering complete? It’s time to start handing things out!
