In 2024, the character of Donald Duck turns 90, since his first official appearance in the short film “A Galinha Esperta” (“The Wise Hen”), released on June 9, 1934.

The “Donald Duck 90” commemorative campaign, which will last all year and involve fans from all over the world, has already been announced by Disney and had Bahia as the first destination for the celebrations.

Last February, during the Salvador Carnival, an unprecedented action led the character to visit the capital of Bahia and participate in the largest street event in the world, whose local host was Carlinhos Brown, singer, composer and ambassador of Brazilian tourism.

The action took place in Candeal, Brown’s home neighborhood, in the city’s main tourist attractions and at “Licia Fabio’s Brown Camarote”, Carnival Saturday, February 10, when the singer wore an exclusive look in the inspired electric trio to the character.




Donald Duck: 90 years old

The character was created after Walt Disney heard voice actor Clarence Nash doing animal voices on the radio in the early 1930s.

Blessed with a quirky humor and little patience, Mickey’s faithful henchman would soon become one of Disney’s most memorable characters.



Donald, who also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California, has appeared in more than 150 animated shorts, as well as dozens of television shows and specials, including “Mickey Mouse House” and “Duck Tales – The Adventure Seekers.” ‘.

Among his most famous films are “Hello friends!” (1942), ‘The Three Horsemen’ (1944) and ‘Fantasia’ (1940), available for streaming onDisney+.

The character also had success in Brazilian comics, where his first comic came out in 1938, in “Suplemento Juvenil” by Adolfo Aizen. Subsequently, in 1950, the magazine ‘O Pato Donald’ was the starting point of Editora Abril and is the longest-running comics magazine in Brazil, remaining in circulation continuously until July 2018.
