Having a healthy mouth is not just a question of aesthetics, but also of general health. Correct oral hygiene prevents diseases such as tooth decay, gingivitis and periodontitis, which can affect the quality of life and also lead to systemic problems.

Some dental care is essential for maintaining oral health. Below we list some habits that you need to have to ensure a beautiful and healthy smile for life:

Correct brushing

Brush your teeth at least twice a day, for about two minutes, using a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Make circular movements, gently massaging the gums.

Don’t forget to brush your tongue, where the bacteria that cause bad breath accumulate.

Dental floss

Floss daily to remove food debris and plaque between your teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach.

There are different types of dental floss available. Choose the one that best suits your needs.

Regular visits to the dentist

See your dentist every six months for preventative exams and professional cleanings. The dentist will be able to identify and treat oral problems early, avoiding more serious complications.

Eat healthy

Avoid sugary foods and drinks, which contribute to the formation of plaque and tooth decay. Consume fruits, vegetables and greens, which are rich in vitamins and minerals important for oral health.

Drink lots of water

Water helps keep your mouth hydrated and prevents xerostomia, which can cause tooth decay and other oral problems.

Avoid harmful habits

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can damage oral health. If you have these habits, seek help to break them.

Use appropriate oral hygiene products

Choose a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. You can also use other oral hygiene products, such as fluoride mouthwash and dental floss.

Remember: Oral health is an investment in your overall health. Don’t neglect the care of your teeth and gums.
