The phenomenon often happens due to the air entering during penetration
The noise is a fart, but the origin is different. Known by the pompous name of “vaginal flatulence”, the phenomenon occurs very frequently during sexual intercourse, but despite this it leaves most women embarrassed, especially those who have never experienced the situation and are caught by surprise.
The vagina is a cavity, so it is normal for air to enter during penis penetration. Depending on the position and dilation of the vaginal canal, this incoming air can come out under pressure, causing that noise that resembles a real “fart”, which is eliminated through the anus. However, vaginal flatulence has no odor. It is a purely physical phenomenon (which has no relation to what the person eats). And let it be clear to men: it is impossible to control!
More common in some women
Depending on the position during sex, any woman can experience the situation, whatever her age. But some may have a greater propensity, such as those who have had natural births and, therefore, have greater dilation of the vaginal canal.
Furthermore, women who have gone through menopause may also have a greater tendency, as the reduction in hormone production can lead to a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. In this respect, so-called intimate gymnastics or pelvic physiotherapy can be beneficial. But still: Young people may also have “vaginal gas.”
And the positions?
There are some sexual positions that can make it easier for air to come in and out, making a “vaginal fart” more likely. The most common positions are those in which penetration is deeper, such as when the woman is on all fours or lying with her knees on her abdomen.
Does avoiding these positions solve the problem? Maybe, but is it worth depriving yourself of this or that for this reason? The best thing, actually, is to relax, enjoy the relationship and see every noise as part of sex.
