More than 130 pets are cared for in temporary shelters in Porto Alegre

Since teams from the Municipality of Porto Alegre began rescuing animals due to the floods that hit the city, 136 pets have already occupied the temporary shelters managed by the municipality as of Friday night 3.

Over 50 are in temporary accommodation set up by the Social Assistance and Citizenship Foundation (Fasc) and the Municipal Civil Protection (46 at the Military Brigade Gym and four at the Centro Pe. Leonardi, in Restinga). Additionally, the municipality has rented temporary animal shelters, which have already served 66 dogs and cats since last Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Victoria Animal Health Unit (USAV) ​​received 19 animals during the week for temporary shelter.

Donations

The animals need donations of kennels and kennels, collars, leashes, fences and mattresses. The city asks that people not bring items directly to city shelters. Supplies are organized and sent according to demand at the Civil Protection warehouse, located in Rua La Plata, 693.
