The Covid-19 pandemic has brought a period of great concern and care to Brazilian homes, but on the other hand, pet adoption has doubled in Brazil, making the country the third largest pet market in the world. according to the IPB survey., Pet Brazil Institute. That was a big point for the economy because this area has grown in a way that has never happened before.
Adoption was another fact that stood out during the pandemic. The main entry point for pets into Brazilian families was through adoption or as a gift, according to the data collected by Comac (Pet Commission). The survey revealed that 84% of cats and 54% of dogs are the result of adoption. In Brazil, it is also common for tutors to receive pets as gifts. This is what indicates the percentage of dogs (44%) and felines (31%) that were presented.
Soon, the pet market is growing more and more, reaching a turnover of 50 billion reais, according to the IPB (Instituto Pet Brasil). Which makes the market one of the best for investing in the country.
Increase investment in animal health
A survey based on Caged data (general registry of employees and unemployed), finds that between 2019 and 2021 the veterinary area recorded an increase of 46.5%, resulting in the best performance in the country’s employment ranking, which sees in second place technical activities with a growth of 27.6%. Concern and increased investment in food and animal health were some of the factors that helped revive the sector.
All this importance in the sector does not stop there, we can expect growth in this market over the next few years, as it is a company with a purpose and constantly expanding. Anyone who owns a pet loves to take care of and treat the pet in the best possible way, because he is already considered a member of the family by the bond of friendship. According to data from consulting firm Frost & Sullivan (business services), the pet market will reach $ 1.56 trillion by the end of 2025.
Despite the difficulties imposed by the crisis born with the pandemic, families have not stopped taking care of the animal and relationships are deepening. In recent years tutors have begun to invest more in products and services for their care and well-being, from beauty sessions and accommodation in pet hotels, and also in fashion items.
As a specialist in the pet sector I say that for those who want to undertake in the segment, the time has come, as it is a growing area and a satisfying branch to approach a special mission.
