The new rule lasts up to a year […]

In a recently adopted measure, the ANAC (National Agency for Civil Aviation) has decided that passengers who need to reschedule purchased flights with final destination Rio Grande do Sul will not have to pay additional amounts in case of date change of the trip.

The decision adds to the “Don’t cancel, reschedule!” campaign. of the Ministry of Tourism, which encourages visitors not to cancel their trips to this state affected by the flooding of several cities. According to the local Civil Protection, 460 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul have been affected to date.

In a note sent to Travel by farethe Ministry of Tourism also informed that the new rule has a maximum duration of one year from the original date.

Furthermore, the refund or credit for the cancellation of flights with a changed final destination will be total, without charges. It is worth remembering that the regulator has also decided that “the possibility of reimbursement of the ticket price must also be offered to the customer in cash, and not only through credit for future use”.

It is important to underline that the priority service is reserved for passengers with a ticket already issued or with a pending return leg, both to Rio Grande do Sul and from there to other units of the Federation.

On May 15, ANAC also announced, in coordination with Brazilian airports, the exemption of airport taxes on humanitarian aid flights to Rio Grande do Sul. The payment exemption has been extended until May 31 or as long as the state of public disaster continues in that State.
