The nutritionist revealed the positive effects that this renunciation can offer to the human body
Soda is a carbonated soft drink that contains huge amounts of colorants and preservatives, which are harmful to health. In this way, the nutritionist at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital Dr. Andrea Sampaio revealed 10 things that happen in the bodies of people who stop drinking soda. Watch:
10 Things That Happen When You Stop Drinking Soda
1. Weight reduction with prevention of overweight and obesity
“Soda is high in sugar. After all, a 12-ounce can of soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar, which is 100 percent of your daily recommended intake,” Dr. Andrea assures.
2. Prevent diabetes and improve mood and energy
High blood sugar levels provide energy and mood. However, the difference is that this sugar concentration immediately drops, which leads to discouragement, tiredness and lack of energy.
“With its removal, blood sugar levels will stabilize, preventing spikes and dips in both blood sugar and insulin,” Sampaio adds.
3. Quality leather
“You’ll see an improvement in the quality of your skin, it helps rejuvenate your skin, as sugar makes collagen more rigid instead of flexible, which leads to more dehydrated, dull and lifeless skin. It can cause increased oiliness and promote acne,” he explains.
4. Reduction of swelling with prevention of hypertension
“It reduces swelling and helps prevent high blood pressure, as both sodium and sugar promote the retention of salt and water in the body,” reports the nutritionist.
5. Little fat in the liver
When soft drinks are absorbed into the intestine, they release a large amount of sugar. This creates a buildup that will be converted into triglycerides and taken up by the liver.
“This excess fat leads to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which is fatty liver disease and can progress to cirrhosis and, subsequently, liver cancer,” she says.
6. Prevent tooth decay and osteoporosis
“Soft drinks have in their composition phosphoric acids, which compete with calcium at the absorption site, preventing calcium absorption, promoting osteoporosis and tooth decay. Therefore, this free calcium in the blood can lead to the formation of kidney stones, such as ‘kidney stones’,” he emphasizes.
7. Better bowel function
“Soft drinks lead to an imbalance of the intestinal flora, increasing the accumulation of pathogenic bacteria (bad bacteria), as well as inflammation, which leads to gas accumulation, predisposition to diarrhea and constipation,” she explains.
8. Less inflammation
In addition to sodium, soft drinks increase the formation of free radicals, which are responsible for inflammation in our bodies. “It causes damage to the walls of the arteries, increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes (cerebral vascular accidents), and increases inflammation in chronic joint disease, allergies, and headaches,” he reports.
9. Improved concentration power
“It helps improve concentration, attention, memory and reduces the risk of dementia. After all, the components present in soft drinks lead to chemical imbalances in the brain and affect our cognitive performance,” the doctor emphasizes.
10. Reduces the risk of cancer
“Soda contains sodium, sugar, colorants, acidifiers and other chemical additives, such as bisphenol A, which can contribute to the onset of various diseases, including cancer. Excessive soft drinks promote weight gain and obesity, which represents a real risk of cancer,” concludes Dr. Andrea Sampaio.
National reality
Information that affects the awareness of the Brazilian people.
