Fertility: Miracle Tips From Influencers Delay Treatment

Misinformation on the Internet about superfoods, supplements and vitamin complexes for fertility can be highly damaging.

Searching for fertility information on the Internet can seem like a minefield, depending on where you search. “Fertility topics on the Internet, unfortunately, often involve a maze of misleading advice and suggestions. It’s a sensitive topic because people trying to get pregnant are dealing with a whirlwind of emotions and can easily be fooled by false information,” she says. Rodrigo Rosedoctor specialized in Human Reproduction and clinical director of the Mater Prime clinic.

According to the doctor, the question of nutrition is always a thorny point. “The first important element to consider when starting your journey towards fertility is to understand the connection between nutrition and fertility. The role of the fertility diet is well defined in terms of the overall dietary pattern of the individual, with a greater intake of fruits, vegetables and macronutrients in the ideal and individualized portion. But it is important to be clear: there is no miracle superfood,” emphasizes the doctor.

The so-called ‘medicalization of foods’ is in fashion, which, according to the expert, is a mistake that leads many people to believe that a single food is the key to fertility.

“Foods like avocados, nuts, and berries are often labeled as fertility boosters. These foods are nutritious and beneficial for overall health, but you can’t rely on one food to boost your fertility. A balanced diet, rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, is more beneficial than focusing on specific ‘superfoods,’” says Rodrigo, who believes that infertility can have many causes — and a medical specialist is the right professional to diagnose.

Miracle supplements

Another important issue to consider is “miracle nutritional supplements.” “Although supplements can play a role in treating nutritional deficiencies, they cannot replace the benefits of a balanced diet. They should complement and not replace a nutritionally rich diet,” the specialist reminds.

Also worthy of attention are products that go viral on the Internet in the hands of influencers. Recently a product called Vita Baby drops was advertised by influencers as miraculous, even with an advertising ban by the National Agency for Health Surveillance (Anvisa).

“Formulates that claim to be natural but don’t even say what they contain can cause problems. Just omitting the formulation makes the product dangerous for allergy sufferers,” Rodrigo says.

All this false information can cost patients time. “And for women, time means eggs, because age is a time bomb and gradually reduces fertility, affecting the quantity and quality of eggs,” the specialist comments.

New lifestyle habits

The doctor also points out that, for those trying to get pregnant, information about genetic cleansing with new lifestyle habits, spread by famous bloggers, can also create additional stress in couples. “The ability to ‘reset’, reset, children’s genes through lifestyle is a big myth, without any scientific proof,” explains Rodrigo Rosa.

Another misconception, according to the specialist, concerns ovarian rejuvenation, which consists in trying to reverse the natural aging process of the ovaries through techniques still being studied, but not proven.

“In fact, recent studies have shown that ovarian rejuvenation treatment, in most cases, does not provide satisfactory results,” she comments.

But what to do next? “It is essential to seek out a doctor who specializes in human reproduction, who can recommend treatments that have proven to be effective with higher success rates, such as artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization (IVF),” concludes the specialist.
