After his 6-year-old son charmed Silvio Santos in ‘Em Nome do Amor’, he met the woman of his life

Orildes Pinheiro tells Terra exclusively her love story sponsored by the owner of SBT: “The company’s phone was blocked”

In addition to his legacy on television, Sílvio Santos – who died on Saturday (17) at the age of 93 – also made great changes in the lives of the people who watched his programs. In the 1990s, the program “Em Nome do Amor” and the charisma of a 6-year-old boy who won over the presenter were responsible for the marriage of Orildes, 56, and Marta Pinheiro, 59, together for 27 years.

In 1997, Orildes and her son Luis Henrique watched the program in which girls and boys sent messages of interest in a new romantic relationship on national television with the intermediation of Silvio Santos.

Fascinated by the painting, Luis Henrique asked his father if he wanted a girlfriend. It was then that, divorced and a single father, the occupational safety technician decided, together with his son, to write a letter to the presenter showing his interest in finding a new love.

“I wrote a short letter saying that I would like to meet women who already had a child, precisely because Luiz Henrique lived with me. He was very happy while we both wrote the letter,” Orildes recalls in an exclusive report to You earth.

The Saturday after the broadcast, Orildes and his son went to deliver the letter to the post office, and once again, Luis Henrique helped his father with the process. The agency was closed, and the boy suggested that Orildes put the letter in the mailbox that was next to the local agency.

Only 15 days passed before the technician received a call from SBT to know if his interest in participating in the program was real, since they were supposed to ask women interested in Orildes’ profile to send photos and letters. He accepted.

Silvio Santos’ receptivity is a vivid memory in this Orildes experience. The presenter’s fascination with the boy was essential for the story to have a happy ending.

“We were welcomed very well. Silvio himself said he would call the boy first, then the father would come in. He spent about 10 minutes talking to Luiz Henrique on that armchair full of flowers,” Orildes recalls.

Known for his affection and games with children, the presenter asked the little boy if he was the one who wanted a girlfriend. “It’s not me, it’s my father!”, Luis replied, amusing the presenter.

“When I entered, that huge auditorium started screaming, I even got scared (laughs). I ended up escaping my son who worked at an electric company in the city of Franco da Rocha and, surprisingly, the company’s phone number jammed, I began to receive breakfast baskets almost every day from many women who aroused interest”, says Orildes.

More than a thousand letters and a puppy as a gift

A month after his appearance on the program, the production called Orildes informing him that they had received more than a thousand letters from interested women. During the waiting period, Luis Henrique lost a dog and the production asked if he could give another one upon their return to the SBT stage.

It was also a month after her participation that Marta’s voice rang out in one of the countless phone calls that Orildes received on the company number. Fate made him answer and he fell in love with his wife without even seeing her in person.

“It was one of the few calls I answered, because I instructed the employees to tell them I was on vacation, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to work,” laughs Orildes.

However, it took him almost 12 months to try to win Marta over. Orildes only got her address from his beloved, who lived in Santana, a neighborhood in the north of São Paulo, where he sent more than 50 letters without a reply.

“I said to myself, ‘That’s the one!’ I got in my car, drove to her door, and she didn’t come to meet me. I had to leave, what a difficult woman!” Orildes says, recalling the attacks.

While trying to conquer Marta, Orildes even left Francisco Morato (SP), where he lived with his son, and went to Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, to meet other women, but no flirtation worked. “I thought: ‘It must be Marta!’” he says.

It was then that Marta finally gave Orildes a chance and the two went to dinner at a restaurant in the city of Jarinu (SP). It didn’t take long for the boy to meet Marta’s family and ask her to be his girlfriend. “He was accepted by Mrs. Odete, who began to call me her son-in-law (laughs),” Orildes celebrates.

Three years after the proposal came the wedding and from the union of the couple was born Gustavo Pinheiro, a 19 year old racing enthusiast and kart driver. Promoted to elder brother and credited by his father as the main person responsible for this love story, Luis Henrique is now 33 years old and is a civil engineer calculator.
