The expert offers 5 essential tips for those who ‘sacrificed’ their favourite pieces at the festival, but want to wear them again
Rock in Rio is one of the world’s largest music and entertainment events, offering not only musical performances but also opportunities to create stunning and elegant looks. However, after days of intense fun and exposure to less than favorable weather conditions, not only your body, but also your clothes may need some recovery.
If you’re wondering how to restore your look and make it ready to wear again (Rock in Rio continues on September 19, 20, 21 and 22), Jacqueline Morais, Research and Development Manager at Reckitt Industrial, makers of Vanish, has put together some essential tips to recover and revitalise your post-festival look.
How to get your clothes back after enjoying Rock in Rio?
Separate before washing
In addition to the classic separation between white and colored pieces, the separation of colored pieces into light and dark also helps to maintain the colors. When washing, give preference to products that have different formulas for white and colored clothes.
Bet on the prewash
Did your favorite item get dirty while eating or got stained on the grass? In addition to traditional washing, in the machine or by hand, one solution is to tackle stains in the pre-wash. There are stain removers in bars, powders and liquids that can be used before washing clothes in the machine or scrubbed by hand. Check the instructions for use on the label of each product to find out the best way to use them. This will also ensure vibrant colors for colored pieces and white pieces for longer, as well as preserving the fabric.
Try to act quickly
Taking care of your clothes quickly, by washing or pre-washing them immediately after they get dirty, also helps you take care of your clothes. Deodorant or mud stains, for example, are easier to remove if you wash your look immediately after use, as are food and drink stains.
Forget about chlorine
Chlorine-based products should be kept away from clothing. The active ingredient, in addition to staining colored garments, damages fabric fibers more quickly. It is recommended to use safe bleach, which, in addition to taking care of the white and/or colors of clothes, neutralizes odors and disinfects fabrics during washing.
Keep an eye on the label
Last but not least, pay attention to the washing instructions on the label. Some more fragile items should not be machine washed, for example, and knowing the best way to clean each type of fabric also increases the life of the items.
